Self-care: What Have You Done For Fun Lately?
Hey There! What have you done
for fun lately? I know we are living in unprecedented times with COVID and
everything that comes with this historic pandemic. I know many are out of work,
feeling heavy financial straint, dealing with various challenges and are hard
pressed to the limit. I know it’s not a fun time for many and that’s definitely true. In spite of these REAL devastating realities many are facing, your
self-care should never be put on hold. There should be no time out for
self-care. Setting aside intentional time to do something fun and enjoyable for
yourself is apart of your self-care package. I believe things that are fun,
enjoyable and that puts you at ease and help you to unwind and refresh yourself,
should be things that we schedule into our time daily or weekly. Maybe for you
it’s taking a nap, reading a book, taking a walk, eating some ice cream (don’t
go overboard), journaling, talking with friends, having a nice bubble bath,
playing golf, watching a movie or your favorite sports team, ice skating, going
to the movies, dancing, playing a board game with family, having a bite to eat with
friends or just having your quiet time, which is your own sanctuary. The list
goes on and on. I think you get the point. It’s very tailored to you. Whatever
that is for you, don’t ever brush those things off as trivial, especially when
things are difficult. I actually believe that when things are at a strain is when
you need to practice this the most. It helps you relax, release tension and get
in the right frame of mind at least for that time, which will help you cope
with the more dire things you’re facing in your life. These things help
rejuvenate and replenish you from the inside out to take on the tougher things in
life. I know with COVID in place, some of these activities maybe be restricted
and a challenge for us to do. That’s where we have to be creative and
improvise. We may have to do some of these thing virtually, depending on what
that is for you. You may have to do it virtually with family and friends. I
actually believe a lot of people can come up with very creative ideas and
inventions in this time, to do things in a different way, and many are already
taking that route. Try something NEW for fun too! You never know where that can
lead you. Do something you’ve always wanted to try or to do. It may end up being a real blessing after all. So, if you’re not
currently practicing self-care, I hope this reminder will encourage you to
start scheduling enjoyable things into your week and you’ll be so much better off for it. Happy self-care!
