When Fear Comes Knocking, Don't Open The Door.
This means you don’t have to give into the feelings and thoughts of fear when it presents itself. Instead, you can push through those thoughts and feelings and still do what you need to do and not be stopped. The question isn’t will fear come, it’s when will it come. You’ll always have an opportunity to entertain fear but what if I told you, you didn’t have to. Just because it presented itself doesn’t mean we have to oblige. We are often presented with different opportunities in life but that doesn’t mean we dived right into them. You should have the same mindset when dealing with the issue of fear. It’s no different. We can’t always control what comes into our life, but we can control how we deal with it. Will we be dominated and overcome by the situation or will we be intentional about surviving it and coming out on top of it. In the same way, we must be intentional about not being ruled by fear and recognize when it shows up. Maybe you are entering into new phase of your life, the unknown where everything is different. Maybe you are facing things that are new and a bit intimidating and out of your comfort zone. These situations and others, create opportunities for fearful, self-defeating talk that plague and attack your mindset because it’s unfamiliar territory. Whatever area of fear you are dealing with, you must intentionally and deliberately take control of your thoughts. When fear comes in the form of debilitating thoughts telling you, you can’t do something or feelings of fear or even negative imagination, you must be intentional about resisting those thoughts, feelings, emotions and negative imagination by thinking and declaring on purpose positive affirmations about yourself and the situation. Envision yourself doing whatever you are fearful or afraid of doing and do it afraid. Those positive affirmations and declarations you speak out loud and intentionally think about are reprogramming your subconscious and flushing out the negative thoughts with positive new ones. Before you know it, you’ll automatically be thinking and living in this new way without much effort to do it. In that moment when you are battling negative thoughts, feelings and imagination, you may still be afraid so just do it anyway. Just because you feel fear doesn’t mean that feeling has to stop you from whatever you need to face. Do it afraid if that’s where you are and eventually you won’t be fearful as you overcome that situation by facing it over and over again. The more you face whatever you’re fearful about, the stronger you get to face it the next time and before you know it, you’re not fearful about it anymore. What was uncomfortable becomes normal for you.
